Remote File Inclusion

Hi,

just wondering if anyone can help me with a problem iv been having?

Basicaly I want to include a remote file from one of my server into a php page on another one of them.

Is there any way to do this? Is it very secure?

I have tried to do this...

include("http://www.domain.com/innerpage.php");

But it doesnt work?

Well, you definitely can't do that, because all you're including is the HTML output of the PHP script.

Why do you need to include this file across different servers?

I need to use the script on a couple of different servers that i dont own and i dont want to give my code away, but i need to utilise the script.

Does that make sence?

There are a number of ways to do this...lookup the CURL functions as a place to start.

Thanks for that, from what i understand though you need to have the curl libs instaled on the client server. I am after somthing that will work with the default instal.

You mention a couple of ways, what others are there?

Well, if your server is all old and everything...you aren't going to get very far.

There is fopen => http://be.php.net/fopen

Most hosts are happy to install stuff like CURL if you ask for it...at least that's my experience.

Read the comments...people present alot of very interesting information and possible workarounds.

If "URL fopen wrappers" are enabled in PHP (which they are in the default configuration), you can specify the file to be included using a URL (via HTTP or other supported wrapper -

But if you are doing this to protect your code then don't bother. Anyone could access it this ways. In fact it's probably less secure.
