Moving tables.

Hello, i've searched the forum but I didn't get any good results for my problem.
I would like to be able to select 2 tables within 1 database , and to move all the data within table1 --> table2.

[table1 - source] ---to---> [table2 - target]

I've also searched on Google, but all that gave me was phpmyadmin and manual moving or a complete database move.

INSERT INTO table2 VALUES (SELECT * FROM table1)

This assumes the columns match up perfectly (with datatype and number of columns, not name)
