running php scripts

I am trying to build a cms site and when I run some of my php scripts they appear as a download ie save or open are the options given to me.

my script to connect to mysql and to create a table does work but when i use a form to fill the dbase it does the above action.

would be very grateful for any help

Sounds kind of like MySQL is installed but PHP is not or improperly installed. How are you accessing you PHP script? Are you placing it on a webserver like IIS (hope not) or Apache and opening your browser then typing [url]http:///localhost/yourscript.php[/url] or on an internet web server and typing http://yoursite.com/yourphpscript.php? Are you running MySQL through the command line or phpMyAdmin or other GUI for MySQL? It would be hard to tell. If you wrote the below what happens?

If you do not see a long table of information about your PHP installation then you probably don't have PHP installed properly or at all. Also show the script that you currently have to connect and create a database as well as the code that fails. Please use the BB Code for PHP to enclose the code like [ php ] and your code here { /php ] (minus the spaces in fron of and behind the PHP BB Code). Or click the ~ inside the dogeared white page just before the seperator and the yellow bubble page looking thingy.

Houdini is right, your php is not working and the web server dont know how to open your php files and start the download ...

I am using phpdev 4 and I know php is working as i have run the usual test

I have created a php script that connects and creates a table in a database in mysql
but when i use a form to post to the phpscript it just gives me the download problem. I am using method 'post' to try to send data to the new table in the data base

phpnewbiedublin Please show what your script is and also show the error message that you get, you really don't let us have much to work with so it would be difficult if not impossible to help you without any code (that may or may not work with a PHP install), otherwise we are all just killing time.

I think i have solved the problem. It seems that my includes folder is not being address properly so im going to change the .ini in php to point to my site folder. Should work but if not I'll be in touch again.(with scripts) Thanks so far for your help.
