Login Script

I have thought about eventually doing a login script for my clients site. I figured I would have parts of the site and forms dedicated for the use of my clients customers. Is a login script something that a n00b could take on? Is there any already made ones that I could use and are easy to edit? I do know that I want it to use $SESSIONS instead of $COOKIES but other then that I dont know much about them. How about any easy to fallow tutorials? I have done alot of googling and I stumbled across this site and WOW I think im going to like it here.

Oh no I didnt take it as being arrogant at all, I totaly understand. Im no n00b to forums but I do know some dont always have the best search features which is why I sometimes dont use them. Anyway I found a great PHPFreaks tutorial and another one. Looks like I have my work cut out now. Thanks alot for your help. I will be coming back here more 😃
