Insert into two databases simultaneously

Hi.
My desire is to be able to insert data into two different MySql databases on two completely different servers at the same time. One would be a back up.

Do you think this would work? I am wondering how to handle the connection . . .

I have another idea too; if the above did not work I wonder if it would be possible to build a back up system that would back up to a different server with the push of a single button. This would probably require dropping the tables and rebuilding them with the new data at run time.

If you have an opinion as to wich would be the best way to go, I would love to hear it.

the setup is that 2 servers are running apps with 1st apps wanting to INSERT/UPDATE record in 2nd apps on the 2nd server with totally different
table structures. 😕
