Secure Images

I am building an assessment system and it requires images to be downloaded to the workstation.

The system runs under https.

Can anyone tell me if HTTPS caches images?

Also, what is the most secure way to download the images, if there is one.

HTTPS caches nothing. Caching is a decision entirely for the browser, which it makes in a similar (if not identical) fashion as it does for HTTP.

Images sent over HTTPS are encrypted to the same standard as anything else- in fact an attacker can't distinguish image data from anything else.
