[RESOLVED] Help with query error

I get this error:

= '1488' AND ID <= '1490''); if (!$result) { die('Invalid query: ' . mysql_error()); $result = mysql_query($query); }

from this query, and I can't figure out what in hell I'm doing wrong.

$db_selected = mysql_select_db('mydbase', $link);
if (!$db_selected) {
   die ('Can\'t use mydbase: ' . mysql_error());

$query = mysql_query('SELECT PNumber FROM OrderTable WHERE ID >= '1488' AND ID <= '1490'');
if (!$result) {

 $result = mysql_query($query);

notice how your mysql query is a php string enclosed in ' and you are also trying to use ' to surround your numbers. either use " " around the query, or since the ID's are numbers they really do not need to be inside ' ' at all

I removed those extra ' so it reads:

'SELECT PNumber FROM OrderTable WHERE ID >= 1488 AND ID <= 1490' and it still fails, same error.

well whats the mysql_error() message that is returned?

hm, thats not an error or anything, maybe your php tags got closed somewhere or werent open

That's what I thought. but all I get is a blank white page that displays what I quoted above as a single line of text at the top of the page. All else is blank.

what caused it to begin the displayed text on the page right at the "= "sign that did not include the ">" symbol? I must have done something wrong.

well if thats what you see when you do the "view source" option in the browser, php is not installed at all or the webserver is not configured properly to parse php files

Could it be that I have it in the wrong folder? I forgot about that

OK I got it now. the error code I am getting is "No input file specified"

if php is installed and configured with the webserver properly it wont matter what folder the files are in, they would parse fine

The editor I am using, HTML Kit, saved it as an htm file. I Should have caught that.

Now it's on to my next problem. You guys are gonna hate me before to long. I feel like such an idiot right now.

When the error says "No input file specified" does that mean I need to set up my page to have a place to put the data I have queried?

Nonesense! If no one had questions, this place would be almost pointless! 😉

Sounds like you're trying to use a function that deals with files and didn't specify a filename, or perhaps tried to use an empty/noninitialized variable. Post the exact error and a relevant code snippet.

the code you have, its listed above, its the exact same code I named "htm" instead of "php". Once I fixed that, the error message appeared, and it is merely a single line on a white page that says "No input file specified."

The data being called is from a field called Pnumber in records 1488, 1489, and 1490. The data itself is varchar.
