detect mms stream with php? (or exec...)

Hi!
can someone help me to detect any mms:// stream-urls for validity.
in php (or even linux command line for that matter......)

i just want to check whether a stream mms-url exists or not.
mms is on port 1755 and an M$ protocol, so probably hard
to get streaming through any php-code, but i just want
to know if the url is valid or not............
