File Comment

I've noticed to PHP can get you details about a file out of the file properties like date modified, and file name, etc...

But is there a way to get the comments out of a file?

You could read the file, using [man]file[/man] or [man]fread[/man] and then search for the commented strings

I'm talking about the comments you can add when you check the properties of a file. By right clicking and selecting properties...you can view date modified, file size, dimensions, etc... there is also a place for description/comments. You can type whatever you want into these. I was wondering if there was a way to access this specific property using php, like you can access the date modified...

I am thinking about image files, which I could include a description of the image...and extract this description else where.

Think you might find that's a Windows db thing - best bet might be looking at COM, but I don't know.

For images specific you can, what you are looking for is the exif data, which you can extract with an php function, I think it might even be called exif() or read_exif. Do a search on the php.net manual or on google
