redirect folder to file

Hi,

I'd like to redirect from any address in a folder to a specific file.

I believe that this can be done with mod_rewrite and/or htaccess, but I have no clue.
Can you provide a real example/ code, please?

RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^/$ /2006

Something like that.... take a look at the apache documentation.... http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mod_rewrite.html... it will help you a lot.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to get it to work.

I created an .htaccess file with that code, and uploaded it to mydomain.com/.

When I go to
http://www.mydomain.com
it works
but, if I go to
http://mydomain.com
or
http://www.mydomain.com/something.html
, it doesn't redirect, nothing happens.

I've read a lot about mod_rewrite and regular expressions, but haven't been able to solve my problem.

More help on this would be great!

Hmm... try:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^/?.*$ /2006

THat should catch:
domain.com/
domain.com
domain.com/whatever I want here 😉

<META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" content="0;URL=http://www.mydomain.com/something.php">

should work put it in your <head> tags

yes it would.... but what if you have 800 files.... much easier to have a .htaccess file rather than 800 <meta>'d files 😉
