Can GD Freetype fonts look like web-safe text (sans serif)???

Hi all,

My first post!!! So please go easy on me! 🙂

Have a look at ~~~

I am trying to cut down the number of links on the page to aid search engine spiders. Currently each product has 3 links that all go to the same place:

1. Product Image
2. Product Name
3. Orange Button at the bottom right

I am therefore trying to use GD to create 1 image for each product that will include all these things. (and then use ALT text for search engines)

My problem is the text for the product name and price. I would really like the text in these to match the current web text.

Altough I know I can turn off anti-aliasing in GD/Freetype imagettftext() the text still will not look like my nice, neat sans-serif Verdana web text.

Does anyone have any ideas?
