[RESOLVED] show first 10 records, then show the rest

I'm using Dreamweaver (yup, I know...)
Is it possible to show a fixed number of rows in a repeat region, then show all the rest?

What I mean is - I've got between 40 and 50 records in a database and it's easy to show them 10 at a time. But what I'd like to do is show the first 10, then show all the rest in one go.

I'm not sure if it's any use - but the bit of code (or a bit of it, maybe) that Dreamweaver kicks out is:


$maxRows_Recordset1 = 5;
$pageNum_Recordset1 = 0;
if (isset($_GET['pageNum_Recordset1'])) {
  $pageNum_Recordset1 = $_GET['pageNum_Recordset1'];
}
$startRow_Recordset1 = $pageNum_Recordset1 * $maxRows_Recordset1;

What type of database are using, and where's your query? The best way to do it would be to use SQL and LIMIT with the limit value for the first 10 being "LIMIT 0,10" and for the rest being "LIMIT 10,$numberofrecords" where $numberofrecords could be mysql_num_rows($result), if you're using mysql that is.

thanx corcode, I'm trying to work with your idea (I use MySql).

To be clear, I've got a list of about 50 events - about 10 are for 2006 and the rest are for 2007. The numbers will vary.
I'd like to be able to display all the 2006 events on one page then click a link to display all the 2007 events.

The dates are stored in the database in the format: 2006-08-26 00:00:00

I might be approaching this the wrong way? Perhaps I can select all the dates with 2006 in the number?

I'm not too bad with php but when it comes to mysql, I'm a big fat noob from noobiville.

I got it with writing sql:

WHERE event_date LIKE '2006%'
