Session ID issue

I am a newbie trying to make changes to a php site built by a developer in India. Anyway, we fired him but now want to lose the splash page and go directly to index.php but also specifying ?id=1 or in whole: index.php?id=1. ID=1 goes into the wholesale side of the site. 0 is the retail. Can anyone give me an idea of how to make index.php automatically go to ?id=1? I was going to just set the redirect on the hosting to index.php?id=1 but it always drops the 1 which causes a problem.

I don't know if this helps but it is the snipet of code at the top of index.php. After studing the structure it look like I need to change something here.
$ses_id=session_id();
$sql="select * from login_master where session_id='$ses_id'";
$resses=mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error());
if(mysql_num_rows($resses)==0)

Delete index.html. Actually, just rename it to something like splash.html so you have it incase you want it some day.

Set up like that its a bad design (should have wholesalers log in then determine what to do on each page by looking at $_SESSION).

if you put it as first lines
of your index.php

<?php // index.php

// If not 'id' is set in URL, then redirect(header) to here, index.php with id=1
// id=0 id=1 or anything else will not be affected, 
// but keep value of 'id' and pass this IF statement
if ( ! isset( $_GET['id'] )) { header( "location: index.php?id=1" ); exit; }

Please, report back and tell if this is how you want it.
Else we can change this code easily to fit your intention.

Hi. Actually, no one can see anything like prices or wholesale only info unless they register it is just setup so if the session id is 1 some different info & links show on that page. An id=0 would show end consumer info and links. To get the real info, they would have to register.

I was going to just redirect to index.php but it always goes into the retail side (id=0). Since we are first a wholesaler, we wanted to start off at the wholesale and then allow end consumers to click on retail.

It would be so easy if it were setup the opporsite way. Wholesale = 0 and retail = 1.
