New TR every few...

Okay, I got this far.

Basically, I need to make a mini-image gallery with images in the directory "directory/" and the file names are 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg, etc. up to 202.jpg.

I need to start a new row every--say five--TDs in my table and I don't know how to do that. Also, I'd like to separate them into pages so the page doesn't load 202 images. Then I could link to them on the bottom, e.g.
Pages: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14

That may sound confusing. Any help?

here is how to do sepreate rows the page thing not really sure on how to do that since I'm a noob also

NOTE: Your forgot the ' after <tr> at the beginning. And the $ before count. And the \ before n.

But uh, can somebody else please help me with the pages thing?

I want to include, say, 5 rows per page (25 pictures).

This is pretty much a FAQ, and searching the board for something akin to the word "pagination" would be of great value to the astute reader.

Hint, you want to do modulo division in your loop:

// end my rows on 5, 10, 15, etc.

if ($counter%5==0) { // the number of pictures, divided by 5, has a remainder of zero
   echo "</tr> \n <tr>";
}

... and something similar for each page.

yea sorry about all the mistakes in my solution i was typing pretty fast and thinking of what is wrong with my program in the if statment you can do what dalecosp did or you can do what i did just you have to set count back to zero in side the IF

AAH! So complicated. The scripts in the FAQ I don't understand. It's all about calling from databases and arrays and complicated variables. All I want is a simple script that separates the script into pages. I don't care if it just shows "Previous" and "Next" links instead of numbers, just as long as it WORKS!!!! And these scripts are pages long and I don't understand them. I'm just a stupid kid, and I just started PHP, and I never read the manual or really got any help with it, I just looked at other peoples' scripts and analyzed them. I hardly understand them at all. Please, all I want is exact code that I can just scrutinize and understand. No complicated functions and variables and things that I don't know about.

Can anyone just be simple and help me understand this?

how about passing a number through the url so that everytime you call the script it retrieves that number and that is where you start out with X-image.jpg and starts the loop with that number

Here is all I have. Sorry for the tantrum or whatever I'd call it.

However, as you can see, I'm using 202 images and I don't want them all on the same page because some people's browsers would be REALLY slow.

I just want to somehow make it separate into different pages--after it reaches 5 rows (25 images), it ends the page and there is a link to "Next Page" or "Page 2" or something.

Completely failed. I tried the other script before that one, and I load the first five pictures and then it stops.

Yeah, um, I made some progress. Do you know how to make an integer to a different decimal?
E.g.
001, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006, 007, 008, 009, 010, etc?

Cause that's what my images are named.

no i would say use an if statement and say if the count is under 100 put a zero on the front of the number else take the zero away.
