php HTTP file reading HTTPS file

I need a way to read https php file that returns me a xml data.
I must read from a http php file
These two files are on diffrent domains and a https php file uses openssl.
Has anyone tried or done to do such thing?
I assume I have a problem because these two files are not on same domain or these two files could be on a diffrent domains if certificate would be paid - verified.

Please Help

try using fopen('http://site.com/path/to/file/filename.fileextension', 'r') (http://uk.php.net/fopen)... you could also try "include" or "require", but these work best on the same domain name I have found...

If you want to use the variables etc. that are created with the (php I assume) file, then you should use include() or require().....

include() and require() execute all the code in that script... this means that you can include or require a script that opens a connection to a mysql database so that you don't have to type it out all the time!

like this fopen('https://1stdomain.com/getxml.php', 'r'); I've tried and like this include('https://1stdomain.com/getxml.php');
None works.
Though I can't try it on the same server - domain so I'm not sure.

do you have access above the docment root?

if so you can do some really good stuff!!!!

I have FTP access to:

/
thepeccavi.co.uk/ (files displayed on that domain name)
shadowideas.thepeccavi.co.uk/ (files for that sub-domain)

If you had:

/
yourdomain/ <FILE to access IN ROOT!!!>
yourSECUREdomain/ <FILE IN ROOT!!!>

then on you secure domain you could do:

include('../yourdomain/filename');

this assumes that both files concerned are in the root directories of their domains...

NOTE!!! "../" means "go up a directory"

I can manage through the paths on server 🙂
But I don't have access above the DOCUMENT_ROOT and these files are'nt on same server.
This is a nice catch though

I've tried fsockopen too. Didn't work.

Could there be a problem that ssl is not properly configured for php to support ssl/tls in socket operations and how could I solve this if so?

I had to enable SSL support in PHP to get this to work.

Note that if it is running on an IIS webserver you will also have to turn off warnings as IIS generates non-standard SSL headers causing warnings to be raised in the open ssl library.

I've checked ssl is enabled just as well as sockets. PHP ver. is 4.4.1
and maybe it's a bug: http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=21653
For I've got it working on a server with php 4.3.4 using (p)fsockopen.
