Ok all the examples Ive seen online for php login scripts have the login form already built in to the php file. Is it possible to just have a normal html site with the <form action=""> set to a php file and this will validate the username password than it will output a html file.

Yes. Well kind of. When you say it will output a html file, a login script can redirect you to a html file, but html files cannot hold state as such. Meening... in order for your users to remain logged in they would need to be within a php application.

Yes that's possible. Some using hard coding form or 2 separate files(the one you said)

How shoud we know? Do you know any php? You might want to learn that first.
