Does Intel make things run more slowly?

I've noticed the Intel advert in the corner only this morning. Is anyone else having speed problems with the site? It seems to be taking up to a minute just to bring up a page.

Just checked and there are less than 200 people "online" at this moment in time, so it shouldn't be anything to do with that.

Also, it's really annoying me that it fills up the screen when i roll over it.

I don't know if its slowing things down, but yes it is annoying. Especially in firefox cause you hit it almost every time when you go to switch or close tabs.

It'll be gone after today. And please do not post about blocking ads on the forum. That will get the whole site shut down on us.
