[RESOLVED] some URL redirect thingy that isn't actually redirect

Alright so I've been working on a website that consists of users, news, and a bunch of other crap which I haven't full implemented yet. Anyways I wanted to have the URLs of the site be very clean and sexy. They way I'm think is like on digg.com (i.e. digg.com/users/billy/) would bring you to the user's page for bill. I was looking for some info and it talked about something like users.php?username=billy would be the actual page, but it is displayed different to help improve security and stop sql injection. My question is, "Is it possible to create something like digg (and may other sites) have for their url ways that doesn't involve tweaking apache or the server in general but just general php programming? If so do you know of any sites that coudl leave me to the right direction or could you explain in a simple way? Yeah

Anyways I'm hoping to get something like www.blah.com/userprofile/billy/ and with eacy hypothetical folder after /userprofile/ (or whatever the page) it would be a variable for the specific page. wooo that was a lot...

This stuff is done with mode_rewrite from apache and u dont need to tweaking apache for that, u just need to create a .htaccess file and is not easy to do, u need to know regular expresions ...

I know that there is an explode() command you can put in the first part of the php file that will do something similar as well. The urls kinda look like this http://www.blah.com/index.php/users/billy

It is a little less sexy, but no regex is required.

I'll try and find the code, but I haven't used it in years, so I hope it hasn't been eaten by the recycle bin
