Seconds to time format counter

Hey!

I've been looking through the time functions in the manual, but can't seem to find what I'm looking for..

What I'm trying to do is convert an int which is a number representing a counter in seconds. I want to split it up into a more user readable format, up to whatever is needed.. maybe just round it off to minutes, or hours/minutes.. etc

For example..

34 seconds,
or 1 minute+
or 1 hour, 45 mins
etc

If you get my drift.. is there any easy way of doing this, or would it have to be done manually? which would get quite lengthy seeming you'd have to take into account all the plurals and what have you, too.

Edit: just thought of a good example.. the ebay time remaining counter. As the time gets smaller it gets more accurate, from X+ days.. to X seconds.. I'm kinda looking for something similar, but counting up instead..

Hmm, that's an idea. I'll have a look to see if anything is there, although I was kind of avoiding those functions as they have a different purpose.. which would have floors in what I'm trying to do,

for example, if it did go off into days.. the hours might reset to 0 (being the next day).. actually, thinking about it.. that would be rounded off.. if I did 24 hour clock, count up and up.. if the day counter goes up, then ignore the hours and just say that day count..

I'm really confusing myself though! lol

I'll have a look through those archives and see if anyone has gone off in a tangent to the usual time formats

Awhile ago I posted this javascript here that was a count up timer. Many people said if you can do it in PHP why not? So, I wrote the PHP functionality to do the same thing
