[RESOLVED] Parse CSV file and display in web page

OK, here's another one from the newbie....

I want to parse a csv file and display it in a web page. I don't really understand the fgetcsv thing. Major newbie here.

the csv data looks like this:

"John Smith","English","92"
"Mary Jones","Math", "89"
"Susan Miller","History","90"
"Karen Johnson","English","86"

I want to parse the data, and list it in tables with table headings of student, class and grade, listing the corresponding data underneath the headings.

there is a special function for reading comma separated values

the corresponding function for WRITE is of course: fputcsv()

You have to use fgetcsv with fopen:

$fp = fopen("filename", "r");

while( $line = fgetcsv($fp, 10000) ) {

 // do something with $line

}

fclose($fp);

According to the manual, you don't have to specify the length (10000), but I usually do out of habit.
