I have this code

<?php echo "$artist"; ?>

In my url I have mysite.com/page.php?artist=james

Why is it not appearing on my page?

$artist ="artist";
echo $artist;

Why would it? Register globals is switched off.

thorpe, I tried your code but still it doesn't work. Some more of the code:

      <p><strong>Welcome</strong></p>

Do not precede the artist with a $
