APC Cache: what do 'hits' and 'misses' mean?

Hi.

Working with PHP 4.3.10 and APC 3.0.10, I'm browsing apc.php page, but I've got no idea
about the meaning of Hits, Misses or Time To Leave. My figures are:

Hits 12799
Misses 41
Request Rate 3.70 cache requests/second
Time To Live 0
Shared Memory 1 Segment(s) with 32.0 MBytes
Cache full count 0

Could anybody give me a tip? Thank you very much.

Probably be the same as for any cache: hits are when the requested page was found in the cache, misses are when it wasn't. Time To Live would control how long a cached page is kept (if space is needed to cache a new page, pages older than this will be deleted first).
