Hi 🙂
I need to create pages that can only be viewed by customers who have purchased a product. Dreamweaver makes that easy enough by letting me add a pop-up window that asks for their usernames and passwords. The trouble is, I don't know how to tell my server which usernames and passwords are valid. I don't want my customers to register for a username and password, I want to create them myself and send them printed ona piece of paper with the product. Entering the username/password on the restricted access page would take them to a registration page where they can create their own names and passwords and login to the online community.
Here are the questions I can't find answers to:
Where in the script that Dreamweaver produces do I put a list of valid users (or link to a database with a list, or a txt file with a list etc....)?
Is it possible to make a group of users valid all at once to save myself time (ie. "password1", "password2", "password3", "password4" are all part of the group "password1-4")?
Please please please bear in mind that I am very new to web design and I know nothing about PHP or CGI and will likely not understand unless you spell out the more complex ideas very slowly. I hope that isn't too inconvenient and I appreciate any efforts to make sure I can make sense of your advice.
Thanks!
