[RESOLVED] Simulating a Form Post

If I want to simulate the effects of a form (I.e., populate the POST variables) without using a form and actually hitting submit, how can I do that?

By getting the information from the database and echoing out the values to the appropriate form fields.

Depends what you're talking about. As Houdini said, if it's an internal script of your own, you can just get the data and use it.

If you're actually talking about using a script to POST data to another script, though, you should look into using [man]cURL[/man].

Thanks Brad - that's more what I needed.

I assume cURL doesn't usually come preinstalled with php (and I'll have to ask my webhost to install it, since I don't have root access)?

No, it's an extension. Though, most decent webhosts have quite a few extensions that are commonly used already installed for you. The GD library, for example, has to be compiled with PHP, but most webhosts do that anyway.

Do a phpinfo() on your server and look for a "cURL" table.
