php calendar

Hello, I know my question may be trivial but I need help coding a php calendar. I have looked at all the free scripts and everything leads to buying a php script. I believe I have the knowledge to code my own calendar. The only problem is where to start. and for those who have done it before can you give me any insight. or if anybody knows of a nice calendar script that I could start with. Most sites of those small php calendars, when I really want a big calendar that fills up most of the page. Thanks in advance for any help.

that is a neat calendar, but I don't believe that's what I am looking for. I would like a more locally based calendar using php. This calendar is not for myself, it is for a youth organization. thanks again.

We've used Webcalendar in the past, and while it's not perfect, it does a lot.

yea I have came across this calendar before when I googled php calendars. I would love to integrate this into the site that I am building, the only question is from your experience could you make this calendar fit within your site design. I'm promoting css and web standards and design is a key goal in getting the calendar working and looking good.

As far as I know, the calendar is CSS based and allows custom header/footers. I think you can pretty much change anything you want.

thanks Elizabeth and bogu for your help. Got to love open source, and help from the community. If there's anyone else out there that has an even better option please let me know. for now I will try to implement the webcalendar. thanks again.
