Webcam authentication using php

I've been asked if I could do a site with webcam streaming and authentication.
I'll be fine creating a site with member login/user authentication, but I've never dealt with webcams on a site before.

Does anybody know of a tutorial on this subject, or have a clue where to start looking? A php/webcam library (if such a thing exists) would be perfect.
Initial searches on google were fruitless!

Can you explain what web cam authentication is? I'm trying to figure out if you want the cam server side or client side. Where will it be streaming to and from?

First you need a client-side application to capture the video things (like: applet or flash/swf). Secound if you want to create an server-side application (streaming server) based on php that can handle this video data you must search about specify protocol (like: RTMP).
