Printing certain fields in table format

Hi, this is my first post on here so let me know what level of info you require if I am to brief!

I have a MySQL table which holds information for each player at my Football Club. I'm not bothering with normalisation as its a site I don't get paid for and I don't have time....besides, its not really required.

I want to display the data in the same tabular format as www.fourmarksfc.co.uk/tables_1sts_05_06.php where the first row has different formatting and will also have a few images in the headings.

The page I am creating is for the squad info which has:

name
position
apps league
apps cup
apps total
goals league
goals cup
goals total
yellow cards
ted cards
man of the match

The MySQL table has more rows than that (D.O.B, address etc) so I only want to display specific ones.

Any help would be much appreciated as my experience with MySQL is limited to say the least 🙂

Basically just select those fields that you actually want so do not use

SELECT * FROM atable WHERE something = '$something'";

instead use

SELECT name,postition,goals_league, goals_total FROM atable WHERE name='$name'";

this will produce just those particular fields of that named name.
BTW if you have field names with spaces you need to remove those spaces or it will cause problems soas seen in the code I posted above I added underscores to the query, you will need to amend your table wherever your field name contains a space to perhaps an underscore (_) or something but not a space.
