Incorrect date format

I have been given an Excel file which I have dumped into a mysql database. The date field for these 3000+ records is like this: 18/05/2002

Now once I export this into my database the date column displays this as: 2018-05-20. How do I change this to display correctly on my site. I can't go through the 3000 records and change the date format.

It sounds like you need to fix the values in Excel and upload the data again.

Why can't you change the date format before you upload? How are you dumping the data from excel into MySQL?
