nub question

hello, i've just started with php like 1 ½ day ago, and i want to do this, but don't know how:

I got an ad page on my website, and I want to use the $_POST function to hide the urls...

like www.mysite.com/ads.php?ad=1 leads to www.myadlink.com

this is how far I came 😃:

$ad = $_POST['ad'];
?>

how can I set up like $ad=1 is for that link $ad=2 is for another link..

Well, first of all, you're going to have to decide which you want - POST or GET? POST is the HTTP method of sending data in the actual headers (sort of) of the connection, such as when you submit a form. No data is passed through the query string.

GET is taking a query string, 'ad=1' for example, and extracting variables from it. In your case, you could use [man]switch/man to build a list of possible values for ads and then use a [man]header/man to redirect them, like so:

switch($_GET['ads']) {
     case 1:
          header('Location: http://adsite1.com');
          break;
     case 2:
          header('Location: http://adsite2.com');
          break;
     default:
          die('Invalid ad specified.');

okay, thnx it works... but I use the code u gave me on the same page as my main page.. when I go to my main page all the time it says: Invalid ads specified.

(because of

if(empty($_GET['ads']))
     die('Invalid ad specified.');

)

if I remove it.. it still says Invalid ads specified.

what can I do to normally view my page again?

Use ?ads=2, or change the code to use $GET['ad'] instead of $GET['ads']
