Question, holding temporary links...

Say someone wants to post a reply on my forum, the link would be reply.php?id=57, they need to login first, so it points them to the login. At the end of the login script it redirects them to index.php using window.location. How would I get it so after they login it takes them to reply.php?id=57.

When you send them to login.php you would pass the id number. eg;

header("login.php?id=57");

then... once there logged in... send them back to the index. eg;

if (isset($_GET['id'])) {
  header("reply.php?id=".$_GET['id']);
}

Just to correct a simple mistake, it's

header("Location: login.php?id=57");

Without the location bit the browser will probaby just ignore it.

On another forum I got the feedback of using $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']; and so I defined that as a variable and had it redirect back to that and it work's perfectly. Your methods probably will work as well, so thanks!

HTTP_REFERER is an optional HTTP header the client can send. Some browsers even allow you to spoof this. Still more browsers have it disabled by default. Put all of this together, and HTTP_REFERER is rather unreliable IMHO.
