Inserting same id into two tables

Hi, hope someone can help.

I have an insert form that I can get information into my database no problem but what I want to do is insert the same id into a seperate table at the same time. I understand that I need to use mysql_insert_id(); but due to my lack of PHP knowledge I don't know how to use it or where to put it in the code.

my tables are

Title
-id - INT, auto_increment
-title

and

Text
-id - INT
-text

I'm using dreamweaver for the insert form and the code it's produced is:

I'd apreciate any help you could give me on this.

mysql_insert_id() - returns the ID generated for an AUTO_INCREMENT column by the previous INSERT query using the given link_identifier.

So u need to make your first insert, then get the id:

$id = mysql_insert_id();

and insert the id ($id) in your second table ...

I understand this but when I try to put it in the code it doesn't seem to work. I am quite new to this so I would apreciate it if you could tell me where i need to put it in the code to make it work so i know it's not something I'm doing wrong.

I'm sure it's really easy but I just can't get it.

why do you need a separate table for the text???

These are not my actual tables just wanted to keep it easy.

What it is, is that I want to be able to draw recipes from my recipe table and comments from my comments table. I need some way to link them together.

Couldn't you just have a table with all the information e.g.

-id - INT, auto_increment
-title
-comments
