Hello. 🙂 I hope you can help me please, I have been searching all over places on Google, and for scripts on places like hotscripts (not ideal, I know!)...

At the moment, we have quite a few forms on our website which let users submit things, these work really well as we have validation, ID issuing and so forth, however, it's becoming tiresome that they're submitted via e-mail and thus things take longer to do.

We now have access to a MySQL database, and I wondered how easy it would be, or if you know of a script that works pretty much like this one does (which I found through googling) - http://routing-com.undernet.org/database.php

It seems people submit a form, and instead of things being e-mailed, it gets stored on the actual site, with ID's.

It also seems that when the user submits the form, they're shown a preview of all their input, with an option of submitting or - or editing it.

From there, it appears on the staff's website to be viewed, and then sorted into the appropriate place of accepted, denied and so on - or to delete it. With the front page of the database.php it offers a search option, per folder (or all) with a match of applications and a brief description, with the ID offering to open up the whole thing.

I anticipate this is very hard to achieve, as I'm very new to PHP but I would really appreciate any help, this would save so much time and make our operation 100% more efficient.

It seems to me you are searching for what is called a content mangagement system. These can be quite simple, or quite complex depending on your required functionality. Fortunately however, there are many, many free CMS's avaialable.

In fact there is an entire site here devoted to reviewing them.

hey 🙂 thanks for the reply.
We're not after a CMS, as that's site-wide, it's just that type of script (as it looks by that other site it's dealt with by 3 .php pages - a CMS offers all that other stuff, what I mentioned above is all we need, and no more. 🙂

Basically, to scale down my first post... this is what I need.

-> User completes HTML form
-> When finished, user submits form which will do validation, if any errors fields remain fulfilled for them to edit appropriately.
-> After validation, a confirmation page is shown giving a table of all their input with an option of editing it (so fields once again populated) or to continue.
-> If continued, the request is given a unique ID and then it appears on a staff area of the website (we already have a protected area with a simple include() so that's no problem).
-> From the staff area, we need it to appear like that link I gave on the first post, with them listed with small amount of info - with clicking the ID to bring up all the information that was received.
-> By "sorting it" I mean after it's ready to be able to sort it into different areas, so instead of being listed all the time we can move it to a "resolved" area, or specific folders for each member of staff.

Hope this explains it a bit further. 🙂 Huge... I know.

What you are looking for isn't going to be a script you can just use, you should be looking for examples or a tutorial as what you are looking for is somewhat custom, yet really not all that difficult if you have any experience with databases or scripting. I would start with some books: 'Learning PHP' by O'Reilly along with 'Web Applications with PHP and MySQL' also by O'Reilly press.
