[RESOLVED] CHMOD Problem

When installing php files to my server the instructions told me to CHMOD various files to 777.

Once I have done this and go to the page on the web a popup box pops up asking me if i want to open or save the file (it is a standard download file window), instead of running/opening the file in the browser.

Why am I having this problem.

I have checked and re-checked the CHMOD and they are set as per the instructions.

Please help me

I don't think downloading files have anything to do with CHMOD, unless it is so strict that Guests aren't allowed to download the file.. It just changes the permissions of the file..

I dont want to physically download any files, thats just the window that pops up.

It is a simple form for emailing that I am trying to run

Do the files end in .php ? Not .php.txt or anything else?

If so, you didn't install PHP properly. What OS, webserver (plus version!), and version of PHP are you installing? Are you installing PHP as a SAPI module or binary?

Php is installed on the server by the host and all of the other php files work correctly. Its just this one file which does end in php

Try it and see. Like I sad other php files work fine. Just confused as to why this should happen

Can you go into this 'ims' directory and do an 'ls -l' so we can see some ownership/group/chmod information?
