Html as text in email

Hi i'm having problem sending an HTML code in emails

here is my code

$message = "<html><head><title>My Title</title></head><body>The Body</body></html>";
$message = htmlentities($message);
// my line of code that send this message on my yahoo email

when i check my email heres what i see

<html><head><title>My Title</title></head>

in case you don't notice the text starting from the <body> tag is gone

can anyone help me with this, i just want to see the exact html code threated as text in my email like this:

<html><head><title>My Title</title></head><body>The Body</body></html>

And probably what you need to do is to set the headers. If your email client can show "Full Headers" or "All Headers", take a look at the "Content-Type" attribute of some of your emails.

It's usually something like "text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1"", or similar, for text-based emails. For HTML-based emails, it's more like "text/html; charset="ISO-8859-1"" or "multipart/html; charset="ISO-8859-1"". I bet that you'd need to set this header to be able to have most email clients interpret what you send as actual html email.

Go look at that Zend link that I posted above, and note the differences in the headers and how they set them:


//plain text version of message
$headers .= "--$boundary\r\n" .
   "Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1\r\n" .
   "Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64\r\n\r\n";
$headers .= chunk_split(base64_encode("This is the plain text version!"));

//HTML
version of message
$headers .= "--$boundary\r\n" .
   "Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1\r\n" .
   "Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64\r\n\r\n";
$headers .= chunk_split(base64_encode("This the <b>HTML</b> version!"))

Shouldn't it be

// To send HTML mail, the Content-type header must be set
$headers  = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . "\r\n";

instead of?

"Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1\r\n" .
