Hope you can help me please.
I wondered if it was easy to do gather IP information, like that available from RIPE.net or ARIN.
We have a form where an IP address is entered, which is then mailed. We want to perform IP information too...
We have the field IPHOST, which comes out in our mail like:
$msg .= "IP/Hostname........ ".$_POST['IPHOST']."\n";
We want to also get information from that appropriate site to say something like:
(for a RIPE IP):
IP/Hostname........ IP here.
IP Block........... the inetnum here
IP Provider........ the netname here
IP Description..... the desc here
IP Country......... the country here
(for a Arin):
IP/Hostname........ IP here.
IP Block........... the NetRange here
IP Provider........ the OrgNOCName
IP Description..... the CustName here
IP Country......... the Country here
And if that WHOIS was to fail (as we don't want things getting delayed too much i a quick contact cannot be made to arin/ripe) then a simple:
"Unable to obtain IP details, reason: foo"
Easy, or hard to do? 🙂
