Extracting mysql database and saving it as a excel file..URGENT HELP!!!

Hey

i realy need help on this ive looked every where but cant find an answer, i dont even know if it is possible. you see im developing a database application, but the client now wishes to be able to export the data from the database and open it in excel i know you can do this using phpmyadmin but i need a script which i can impliment into my system could any one pleas ehelp me

This might work (it's untested):

$result = mysql_query("SELECT * INTO OUTFILE 'excel_file.txt' FIELDS TERMINATED BY '\t' LINES TERMINATED BY '\n' FROM my_table");

Thats the principle but i am using php to do the coding do you have any ideas?

Just open two mysql connections. Select from one, insert into the other. Doesn't matter which is csv and which is a regular database engine.
