determine ip or hostname of calling script

I have a script that will only be called by a image tag (the script is for retrieving and resizing images).

The issue is that the script could be called from 2 different servers (live and development) and based upon which server the script is called from, I want to choose which mysql database to connect to.

Is this possible? When I use $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] it will give me the address of the machine I am on, not the address of the machine the script was called from.

We are using PHP4.

Very odd.... $SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] should return the client address... Try searching for "$SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']" on the web to see what you come up with, as this is an odd looking one

I think you want the SERVER_ADDR index, instead of the REMOTE_ADDR index. That'll return the IP address of the server processing the script.

If you want the host name, try SERVER_NAME instead.
