PHP Mail form wont work

Hello,

I've been working on a form where the customer can fill out some information and then click the "submit" button and the php will send an e-mail using the mail() function. However, I have run into an interesting problem. When the submit button is clicked, the page seems to refresh itself and maybe re-load the page to a completely blank form; it will not go to the thank you page or send the e-mail. This worked on my test environment but I am running into these problems on my website.

My first guess is that your website (correctly) has register_globals turned off, while it is turned on on your test site. Thus all those form variables you are checking in that chain of if statements near the top need to referenced as $_POST['name'] instead of just $name (as well as anywhere else you reference the form values in your script).

Thanks, I got the refresh issue resolved. I noticed that the guy who wrote the code, if you look at one of the conditionals at the top, wrote it in such a fashion that if one of the inputs wasnt greater than a certain number it would literaly re-write the page.

Still, it gives me this error:

Warning: mail() [function.mail]: SMTP server response: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for [e-mail] in C:\Inetpub\webs\apwicks\order_waxed wick.php on line 397

Do I have to actually be sending it from a valid e-mail address on that domain?

Yeah, sounds like they don't allow relays. You could set the "From" value to a valid address on your host, and then set "Reply-To" to the desired reply-to address.

The client told me that the website is just simply a name and the hosting package they got doesn't allow for e-mail addresses to that specific site. I was wondering, is there another way to send an e-mail via php without using the mail() function?

Nothing to do with the thread topic but... you could probably do with tidying up those if statements a little bit... like so:

if(... == ... && ... == ... && ... == ... && ... == ...) {
Do this;
}
else {
Do this;
}

At the moment it reads pretty awfully - all those lines. You can also use "tubes" (||) to mean "or" in the format:

if(... == ... || ... == ...) {

}

You can get those (on an English keyboard) by pressing lshift and backslash.
