the php documentation is not helpful:

it says it returns a value of type 'int' but declines to provide any details.
does anyone know?
According to http://us3.php.net/manual/en/function.error-log.php it returns boolean. Not sure where you get int from.

I clicked it, and it says "bool" in the syntax template and later says the return value is TRUE or FALSE.
Now it says bool for me too. i originally typed in http://php.net/error_log and I've noticed this sometimes gives me us2.php.net and sometimes us3.php.net. Perhaps it was a caching issue? It also had some garbled characters.
At any rate, it's fixed now.
