[RESOLVED] How to retain text fileds' input?

hi,

the user fills in the text fileds of the form then clicks submit. then the data that has been entered will be shown. the user clicks Back to go back to the form...

the task:

how can i make the text fields retain and show the data that the user has previously entered so that the user doesn't have to fill in all the text fields again?

the Back button is the Browser's back button, not one that i created of my own. so...?

Then you should pass your variables to your submited page and store them into
hidden form values.

<form action="yourpage.php" method="post">
<input type="hidden" value="<?=$_POST['var1'];?>" />
<input type="submit" value="Back" />
<form>

and have your back button actually submit all the data back to your original form.

errr... ok... there is no custom made Back button... it's the browser's back button at the top of the browser...

Why even have a back button? What is the purpose of having them going back to the form they just submitted? Is it supposed to be something of a "preview" effect?

If so, I would convert your form into a PHP function, i.e. displayForm(), that way you can just re-display the form with all of the values filled in on the same page, instead of having a "back" button.

Then I would definitely go with my suggestion above. If you don't get what I mean, type some stuff and then click on the "Go Advanced" button on the quick reply screen here at PHPBuilder.

You'll see a preview of your post above as well as a textbox below that has retained everything you typed thus far.
