[RESOLVED] set cookie/session via ajax?

I have not tried this yet but was wondering if you can set/create session/cookies vars from a php script being called with ajax?

I am guessing no since that page is already loaded but since ajax calls a php script that works in the backend maybe it has its own environment and can do that?

Just wondering so if it comes up in the future I will know the anwser ahead of time. Thanks.

My guess would be that this is that sort of thing that will be browser depdendant. I suppose the question could be rephrased to:

Does browser X honour cookies passed by pages that were requested within the clients JavaScript.

My view is that the answer to this is probably yes to most browsers, but that is mainly a gut feeling. A better option however, could be to set the cookies in the JavaScript code based upon the response from PHP.

For cookies, you can set it easily with Javascript.

document.cookie = "cookie1=value;cookie2=value";

For Sessions, i'm not too sure, guess and check is all i could say

I have tried it and it works. You can create a simple call and I suppose you do not even have to put the result into a div. Simply call the page where the cookie gets set with a normal GET and the cookie gets created.
