good hosting company that supports php/mysql

Hosting companies are a dime a dozen, and many have problems. So I wanted to ask you guys for any recommendations.

My current hosting company, www.web .com, who although I have had no problems with, does not support php 5. They only have php4. And from what I have read, there is a big difference in how the pages are coded.

Do many companies support php5, and if so, would you please give a recommendation (based on your actual, hopefully, positive experience).

Yahoo hosting supports php 4.3.11 and mysql 4.1.12. Would that be good enough?

Define "Good Enough". A lot of companies don't see the goods in PHP5 enough to justify the upgrade that could impact a whole bunch of their clients... SO, if you have a hosting solution in mind, you could always ask their support. If they get enough requests, they may consider starting up a PHP5 farm for new clients... You never know.

I personally use: http://www.sundigitalinc.com/ for two of my sites and http://www.raishosting.com/ for 3 others. I think they are both very very good, and have had no beefs with either, and both of them have good pricing. Neither of them use PHP5, but I've been coding around the PHP4 limitations for so long (compared to some functions in PHP5) that I don't think I'd want them to switch anyhow...

I know some may say, I get hosting cheaper here or there, but building a trusting relationship, and being able to count on your host and their technical staff is more imporant than a buck a month in my opinion.

well, since it was resurrected, just as an update, i ultimately went with www.hostgator.com and have been very happy.

I've been using DreamHost for about a month, and there has been downtime, but it's been resolved quickly. It's also really, really cheap, and their control panel is easy to use. They support PHP4 and PHP5; you can choose which you want to use. If you want a bargain, this is the place to get it.

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. If you want super-reliable, you don't want to use DH, but you're certainly not going to get redundant servers, etc. for the same price either.
