[RESOLVED] HELP!! PHP and abitwhizzy

Hello .. anyone who is online now, its kind of late.

Been trying at this for hours but

I've been trying to use this open source script call abitwhizzy

I followed the instructions, changed my permissions to 777, got an internal error, changed it to 755 instead.

Anyways, I got to the step where I opened abitwhizzy.php and went to the drop down menu to view the htm files.

I found one I wanted, hit open and the page refreshed and showed nothing.

The htm file I have in there has data, b/c I opened it individually and saw it. However the abitwhizzy.php just won't seem to open it. It just refreshes and stays blank.

Please, if someone could help, this is an important component in the website i'm developing.

There isn't much information in the forums that support this software and there isn't much on google regarding any problems.

Stick some debugging in around line 45

Thanks for the response halfabee,

Bare with me, I'm very new with php, but looking at that code, it seems to make sense:

Open the file
Save the content as a variable
I'm guessing the next two lines read the beginning to the end of the content
I'm also guessing the two lines after that are combining the top and tail sections and

saving it as content
Then it closes the file
The next couple of lines are kind of confusing

I'm not really sure how to go about at debuggin this? Would I just do echo statements to print out each one of those variables? Thanks

before fopen()
add echo "File to open is $f <br>";

after fclose($fedit);

add echo htmlentities( $content );
That might be a good start.

Ok here's the update

Right now, just opening the file, no echo's reached,

I put echo's all over the place, the only one that appeared when I tried to open the htm file was the one I put right after

function go(){}
echo "function go reached";

that printed fine

but nothing else printed, I tried to print out the variables and none of them showed anything

After I typed in the password, which is test, and submitted,

I did get this:
File to open is .html

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/ravidtec/public_html/abitwhizzydebug.php:41) in /home/ravidtec/public_html/abitwhizzydebug.php on line 46

line 46 is this: header("Location: $f");
and line 41 is: echo "File to open is $f <br>"

Has anyone used abitwhizzy before had have it working?

To install it, basically you download their zip file, unzip it, upload all of it into your root directory on your webserver, change permissions on any htm files that are in the same directory that you want to edit, and presto it's done

just type in your URL www.myurl.com/abitwhizzy.php
and it should work.... SHOULD

The directions seem short and clear enough, I'm just not sure why it doesn't work.

If anyone else has any other useful input, please post them

Ok, still at this,

Still can't open a file, when I try to create a file to save, i get this error:

I made sure I put permissions on the files I want to open. I tried 777 on abitwhizzy02, but I got an interal server error. So i changed it to 755 and it worked again.

Not sure why any of this isn't working. Anyone have any ideas?

Ok, last night that I'm going to try this,

abitwhizzy.php, I emailed the guy who wrote the script. He said that I was missing body tags and provided ones that I should use.

My .htm file before was just text with a little formatting, not body tags. So I made the changes, grabbed some .htm files that people used online with abitwhizzy, and still..... Nothing.

I need the functionality of abiwhizzy because it fits perfectly into what I"m trying to create.

What I'm trying to do is grab an htm or html file from somewhere on the server, have it show up in an editor window, with wysiwyg or some other editor, and allow the user (who doesn't know much about html or anything else other then word) edit the files an save them.

Does anyone know any scripts that have been made other then abitwhizzy that does this? Thanks a bunch

abitwizzy is not much good for editing html.
<Textarea> does not show html tags and it is probably why the screen is blank.
I uploaded it and couldn't see the code in the window, but the code was in the source view.

You probably need a java editor for this.

Thanks for all your help Halfabee. Your right, abitwhizzy isn't good for editing html. It is also too buggy. I've gotten many people to try it out on their servers. None of them got it to work. Looking through forums, it only seems to work on some servers. The developer of this project also seemed to have stopped working on it.

For now the solution I say to anyone with a similiar problem is to use openwysiwyg. It's also a browser text editor.

It is similiar, has better functionality, and has more support for it.
