need to find first marker???

i am writing a script and part of it is a filtering process, however i am not sure whats the best way to do this.

i have a selection of numbers as follows eg:

48404587
43857054
3847047022

What i am looking for is the '0', what i want it to find how far the nearest '0' is to the end of the string, working from right to left.

so first line is 5 from the right, second 3 from the right.

The third line has two '0's in but i just want the first one returning again from right to left which would be 3 from right NOT 6 from right.

Anyone got ideas how to do this?

echo strrpos($string,"0");

Not sure that [man]strpos[/man] alone is really what you want here... (At least not as you have it...) because it returns the actual position of the string itself. Unless I am missing something, that won't get you what you need.

You need more code. Try this instead:

$string = "237640751223430768"; 
$string_position = strrpos($string,"0"); 
$string_length = strlen($string);
$position_from_end = $string_length-$string_position;
echo $position_from_end;
// Output 4

// Your way outputs 14
