validation with php or java (which is better)

Hey guys,

I need to validate a couple of forms that I'm posting to a php page in order to save results in a session. Which is better (perhaps easier :o ) for validation purposes, php or java?

Please feel free to explain why I should use the method you suggest. Any links would be appreciated.

PHP because the javaSCRIPT can just be edited through the address bar

You can use JavaScript to do local validation if you want as a means of enhancing the user interface; but then you still need to validate the input on the server side with your PHP, because there is no guarantee that the client is running JavaScript.
