[RESOLVED] exporting .sql with putty

I'm on cpanel and want to export my database with putty...the only problem is I can't find my database file when I search my files. I've searched all my files and still nada. Any clues where this may be stored?

mysqldump -u db_username -p db_name > /path/to/backup.sql

The example path you have specified for your outfile is absolute. If your host is running some nasty chrooted environment like jailshell (which a lot of ISPs using cPanel do) this will allow you to write to paths that are outside of your home directory. Use a relative path instead and you should be ok.
