Processing JPEGS by using PHP GD-1.8

Hi all,

I need to process JPEG images in my PHP codes and I have already got great tips from some guys here. The problem is now that I am not sure if my private server supports GD-1.8 to be able to process JPEG images or not. How can I find out about it? I used phpinfo() but it didn't show anything. Also, if it doesn't support it, how can I re-compile PHP with GD-1.8 support? Besides, I have moved my domain to another host and I am not sure if their servers support GD-1.8. Do they usually support all PHP capabilities? I have asked them already and waiting for answer...
