Client log in area. How?

Hi all, this is my first post here and I really need some suggestions on how create a few things on my site. I'd really appreciate any help.

Here's a quick explanation of what I need.

A client log in area where they can:
have a personal schedule and the ability to add/remove appointments
enter thier own client info
keep track of thier classes and enrollments
email thier own clients at once
Allow thier own clients to register for classes online

I need this to handle multiple users, with each one only able to view thier own information.

I can get the website part up and running. That's not the issue. I just have zero clue to to intergrate the features above for my users. Do I need to use PHP for this? I'm so confused. What will need straight html and what needs a certain script?

I've never done anything like this before. The extent of my knowledge is basic web design and a little CSS. that's it. I'm at a loss of what to do next.
Any help is appreciated.

Start with a database, then use it to enter the various variables of each individual. This would be one table of just users. Of course it would contain email addresses and other information and also an id of some sort. Basically you need to set up a database using perhaps MySQL or POSTGRE, or even something else...this is your choice.

I belive you just need to slowly get into using and managing a database.

I guess where I'm confused is on how to make it possible for each user to have their own account that they can manage themselves.

It should be automatic for each user to manage thier own calander, client info, class schedules, etc.

I don't know if I'm explaining this correctly. I can post a link to our test homepage if that would make it easier to understand what exactly I'm trying to accomplish.

I just don't understand how a database will help me achieve this. I'm sorry if this is all very basic stuff, but I'm a little clueless right now.
