Pl help...Displaying large amount of data in a table column

😕 Hi!

Can some one please let me know a way to display large amount of data in a table column without expanding the height, where other columns containing one or two lines?

This particular table has 20 columns and one column cotains several lines of text, about 50 lines, whereas others contain one or two lines. Due to this, when displaying text, this particular column gets expanded in height.

I appreciate it a lot if someone can help me.

You can try something like this (tested on IE6, Firefox 1.5, Opera 8.5) :

You do this with the CSS Overflow Property which controls what happens when content is too big for the element. See the Example

Thank a lot, both of you for your help.

It actually helps, but if you guys know how i can do something like a popup thing only to show the text when mouse is moved over, or when i click a link in this particular column and for it to dissappear when the focus is on other columns, it would be great, but this is great too and i really appreciate it.

You would do that with javascript and the mouse events: mouseover and mouseout

Well, i have used what Roger showed me (using CSS Overflow Property) and it perfectly works, thanks a lot Roger, but since the users prefer to have something poping up on the screen on mouse click, i tried 'Help Tool Tip', but it doesn't work for large amount of data, anyone has a suggestion pl?
