Sounds like your using a hosting service for your site. Most hosting services provide some open source software like DB Manager which is built on the popular open source utility, phpMyAdmin.
This software allows you to view all the characteristics of your database, browse through the records, and submit interactive SQL queries.
If you're doing your own site, I'd recommend you look into installing it.
